Helping to “Free the Data” and Prepare Communities

On June 11th, FEMA launched a data visualization tool. The tool itself is a series of visualizations that will help communities better understand the risk of disasters to their communities and FEMA’s financial contributions to preparedness and disaster assistance in their state. As part of our support to the OpenFEMA initiative, HWC is proud to have helped develop the data processing scripts and visualizations for this effort.

Additionally, FEMA released two blog posts discussing the visualization and open data at FEMA. The first is by Administrator Craig Fugate and the second is by Claire Thomas, the FEMA Data Visualization Team Lead.
